Israeli Chocolate Week and The Chocolate Festival in Tel-Aviv are the brain child of Yael Rose.
Founded in 2013, Israeli Chocolate Week consists of various events, all throughout Israel. The initiative is aiming to promote the fast-growing chocolate industry and showcase artisan chocolatiers, as well as established chocolate companies.
During the week in 2013 Yael hosted the International Chocolate Awards for an Israeli round. This resulted in three Israeli chocolatiers - Sigal Karpel, Ora Shavit and Ika Cohen progressing to the World round of the awards.
In this final round, Ika Cohen received a Silver award for her Earl-Grey praline and Estella Master Class received a Merit award for Contribution to Chocolate Education.
The first Chocolate Festival in 2013, produced in collaboration with Oshra Dayani at The farmers market in Tel-Aviv Marina, saw over 35,000 visitors in three days. In 2014, Yael and Oshra are taking the festival to the beautiful surroundings of 'Mitcham ha Tachana', a historic centre in the heart if Tel-Aviv.
Yael says: "In recent years Israel has seen major developments in the micro-beer, wine and cheese industries, and I believe chocolate is next in line. Israelis know and care about good quality food. They love their chocolate, but there is much need for education about fine chocolate - how it is made and why it's worth paying more for it. Israel is a beautiful country and a perfect holiday destination. I hope visitors from all over the world will combine their love of chocolate and sun and come to visit us during Chocolate Week."
