This is a great addition, thanks Clay. Though I'm not down under, I've had a lot of chocolate-related correspondence with those who are, so I've joined up and am here to help.

Nice one Clay. Australia is a pot almost ready to boil, there are lots of people just starting or tinkering around. This is a great idea, I agree with Lynn that by helping each other we will all get stronger, it is a big country and I don't think we will get around to stepping on each others toes for quite some time.

What a great idea, thanks Clay!

If you think about it, Australasians have great taste, no wonder there are so many chocolate lovers here. And we are also an enterprising group of people, who like to share our interests with like minded people. Hence the large number of people on the chocolate life from downunder. What we lack in population numbers we make up in enthusiasm. :)

Having said all that, I am not a chocolateur. I just love eating chocolate, but have developed such taste for it that I can only eat the real thing. I am also experimenting with a new hobby - cake decorating, because it makes such a change from my usual brain type work (I am an academic).

However, my first ventures into making modelling chocolate have not worked well, I came out with a gooey mess that oozed all over the place. If I ever succeed I'll make a chocolate harbour bridge to use as the avatar!

cheers to all,
Melanie

Well done Clay! You are right, having a network in our part of the world is definitely going to be helpful! I am originally from Ohio, but have been here 22 years. 2 1/2 yrs ago I established Geraldton Hill Bute SA geraldtonhill.com.au. I own and manage a predominately wholesale home based business creating artisan toffees and other sweet creations in country SA on the York Peninsula. I spend hours sourcing all things to do with the business. To have a forum to obtain and share knowledge about where others source items is always helpful. Some are not willing to share info, but I believe that by sharing we make each other stronger and the industry stronger and better. So, thank you very much Clay!!

Great idea Clay. As a beginner in making chocolate for local beans in Samoa I'm glad to be a part of a more closely connected community of chocolate makers in our area. I've learnt plenty from Chocolate Life already and thanks for that. Hope to learn a lot more. - Bob Rankin
