International Chocolate Awards

The International Chocolate Awards  highlights excellence in fine chocolate to consumers by awarding prizes for plain/origin bars, flavoured bars, filled chocolates (bonbons, pralines, ganaches) and spreads in national and regional rounds, culminating in our yearly World Final.

Competitions are held in an expanding range of countries and World regions, including Scandinavia, Italy, European Semi-final, Canada, Germany/Austria/Switzerland and in the USA for the Americas.

European and Italian winners

A belated update here about our first two completed competitions. We're now half way through our first year of the International Chocolate Awards, with successful competitions already held in London for the European World Semi-final, and in Florence for the Italian National Competition.

The Italians were the first country to get their own competition in the Awards, and as such were not able to enter the European Semi-final. Their winners though go straight through to the World Final in London in October. You can find a full list of the Italian winners here.

Plain and origin chocolate bars were a reserved category and all entries for these, including Italian, were judged in London. Recognising the best origin chocolate is central to the philosophy of the Awards, so it was important that these are judged side-by-side as much as possible.

You can find a full list of the European winners here, including the best European, Italian, French, Swiss, Organic and Directly Traded Gold winners.

Thanks to all those who have worked so hard this year to make the awards happen, next we're on to New York for the Americas Semi-final and Vancouver for the Canadian National Competition.

Just to update any European readers - the European semi-final of the International Chocolate Awards, to be judged in London, is now open for entries. You can complete the forms online here:

The online entries should be completed as soon as possible (payment is taken online also). Samples are due by 25 May 2012.

We can accept entries from anywhere in Europe, Asia, Africa, etc. The Americas semi-final round will be announced shortly and will be judged in New York in September.

Entrants from the Asia-Pacific region can choose which of the two semi-finals is best for them to enter, but can only enter one of these.

The winners of the semi-finals and winners of the Italian national competition will go through to the Grand Final, which this year will be in London in October during Chocolate Week.

We are also pleased to say that a Canadian National competition is under discussion and will be announced shortly. More national competitions will be considered for next year.
