Hi all,

Just wondering who has run a groupon or such type deal? Would like to hear your feedback.
I am familiar with the pluses and minuses but since I am considering it, id love to hear what type of deal you ran and how it turned out for you before I decide to go ahead and if I do before I negotiate with them. I don't expect to make money but look at it as more of an advertising/customer acquisition expense. That being said, I would like to minimize my loss as much as possible or at least strive to break even.

I am thinking of focusing on barks as it is a low labor item. That or pretzels which have a high margin but do involve more labor. I don't think it highlights us well as it is a more everyday item but could be a good way to get people in the door.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Ps I looked for a previous thread but didn't come across one. If it exists, feel free to point me in that direction.

I have done LivingSocial deal last year at this time, we are getting ready to do another one in the next week or so. We were only open for 5 months when we did it last year, and it was a great way to get our name out there, we sold 141 deals at $10 for $20 worth of anything in the shop, out of the $10 we get $5 . Out of the 141 only 33 were previous customers, and in addition to that 45 didn't even redeem their deal, so $225 in free money. Then on top of that the average customer spent $5.56 over their deal. Let me know if you have any other questions.
