How to Use The Chocolate Swap Group.

Add a forum post about the chocolate(s) you have to swap and the chocolates you are looking for.

To make it easy on everyone, please list in detail what you have and what you are looking for. Please also tell us more or less where you are. City, State, County is enough, nothing more specific than that. Please do not reply to the forum with your real-world e-mail address, phone numbers, chatroom names, or other personally identifiable information.

If you find someone you want to swap chocolate with, send them a message by clicking on Send Message next to their name/avatar next to their post. No link? You may have to friend them first. Send a friend request and tell them the reason you want to friend them is to swap chocolate.

Disclaimer: This is a referral service only. In no way does TheChocolateLife assume any responsibility for the accuracy of the descriptions provided or guarantee the delivery of the chocolate(s) being swapped. Those issues are entirely up to the parties involved. If group members have a problem they can contact Clay Gordon who will attempt to mediate a resolution. The fee for the mediation service is one bar of chocolate - Clay's choice.

Hello everybody. I want to offer up my Danta Chocolate bars to trade gram-for-gram for other premium bars.

Currently I have in stock or ready to mold the following 50 or 115 gram bars: 39%cacao Milk, 43%cacao Milk, 60%, 70% cacao and sugar only, 75%, white and white with nibs.

I work with 2 different cacao growers in Guatemala. One, Las Acacias Estate, is as close as you can get to a pure Criollo in Guatemala. It's fruity and spicy and bold. The second, Los Ujuxtes Estate (pronounced "los oo-hoosh-tays") is a Trinitario originally brought to Guatemala from Costa Rica in 1979, prior to the blight that wiped out 95% of their cacao production. This cacao is of a more "chocolatey" nature, but still has a hint of fruitiness and possibly some tobacco.
My white chocolate is made with natural, undeodorized cocoa butter that I have made from the same premium cacao used for my chocolates. I have been told, repeatedly, by professionals in the field and "regular" folks alike that it's the best white chocolate they have ever had.

Now, with all that said, I can't start a swap program until the summer is over. All air mail in and out of Guatemala passes through Miami, and even though I ship in a cooler with frozen gelpacks, they last no more than 3 days in the summertime. The total transit time from Guatemala to the US or Canada is usually around 10 days. Unfortunately, there are no inexpensive options for faster shipping. DHL, UPS, Fedex all operate here but are frightfully expensive. But, I'd still like to get started on making the necessary contacts. So, feel free to post here or contact me privately. Cheers!

Hi Anna,
Your package is ready to go. Please send me an email at drexeliuschocolates@gmail.com that has your shipping address so we can get the chocolate to you!
Have a great weekend.

No I haven't tried Original beans, haven't heard of them before, they were quite expensive, but as long as they are covered in the "budget" I'd like to try :) Thanks for the tips!

Anna,
Glad you got the Askinosie! I will definitely try your suggestion of licorice and chocolate.
Have you tried Original Beans? I am the first online distributor. Check them out and let me know!

That's great! Thank you :)

I already got hold of an Askinosie 77% bar so if it's not too late you can replace it with something else (another Rouge for example). Not very important but if possible I'd like to try as many new ones as possible :)

Just let me know if you want anything from Sweden in the future, and make sure to ask your friends to pick up Malmö 1888, our own bean to bar chocolate, I suggest you try West Africa and Master blend.

Also want to recommend 100% licorice, can be found in health food stores. You can eat it as it is, but I've also discovered that grinding it and mixing it with melted chocolate with a little bit of sea salt is absolutely gorgeous. :)

Anna,
I have not forgotten about you :)
I talked to a few people who have shipped overseas and they are helping me with the forms to minimize costs on your end
I will have it all ready to go by this weekend!!

I will do my best to start getting the following together:
* Newmans extra dark
* Endangered species
* Rogue (my pick)
* Askinosie Davao 77%
* Amano Montanya
* Taza stone ground 70%

I will verify the pricing for the shipping and find out how long it will take for delivery. From what I figure, it should come to around $50-60.

I appreciate you wanting to send something my way, but I already have some friends going to Sweden this summer and they are bringing me some chocolate and salty licorice on their return.

I will be in touch soon!

That sounds great. :)

Never tried Rouge, so absolutely if you recommend it!

2lbs is almost a kilogram so that should be ok, a bit too expensive otherwise and also bigger risk of getting customs problems.

My prio order:
* Newmans extra dark
* Endangered species (if you could include these two I'd be happy :))
* Rougue (they all sounded nice so you pick one)
* Askinosie Davao 77%
* Amano Montanya
* TCHO IF you can get it, quite a lot on my list now so it's not that important, but if you are in SF I'd recommend you to have a visit at Pier 17 :) (a tasting pack: http://www.tcho.com/store/bars/discover-your-chocolate-tasting-pack.html)
* Taza stone ground 70% (the other one was a bit too low in cocoa content and since I found some other alternative it's not that important.

Ok, quite a lot on that list now (it's so easy to get out of line when it comes to chocolate ;)). But if you could pick a few on that list and we could get a package for round 50-60 dollars that would be awesome. You think that'll work?

What can I get you from Sweden? :)

Best,
-Anna

Well, I can purchase a few of the others for you if you still want to try them:
Newmans extra dark (70%) and Endangered species (70%) -- Let me know if you would like me to include these bars in the shipment

i will be in SF in a few weeks and can do my best for the Tcho

have you tried Rogue Chocolatier? that is an American chocolate maker new to the scene with incredible chocolate -- you might want to give it a try :)

i have never shipped to Sweden, but USPS ships there for a flat rate -- up to 4lbs is $12.95 -- up to 20 lbs is $41.95

thanks so much!

Hey! I didn't find any of the ones I was looking for but a few others that are not in Sweden yet. The new Askinosie and the new Amano, and Taza with cinnamon maybe (wlthough the cocoa content was a bit low in that one).

How much would the shipping be for these three (to Sweden). And can I send something back to you?

I am able to buy some of the bars I'm looking for online but not all in one place and when it's not a "gift" I risk customs fees and sometimes the shipping costs are mad..

Cheers
-Anna
