On my 10th birthday, I had a chocolate truffle cake with real truffles. Little white bits of mushroom were visible in it. It was rich and dense and dark, and it had NO PUDDING! Truffle cake and truffle has never meant pudding filling to me, and I have been searching in vain for the real thing ever since, to no avail. The cake came from the 5 star French restaurant Au Relais, in Sonoma, CA (it's not there anymore), where the older brother of my friends Sarah and Katie Jalving was a cook.
