Dear lord, there is no way to genuinely choose! I'll just say the: The first time I ever had a Purdy's Mint Meltie. Being a child, having that obsessive lust for all things sweet, never having had chocolate of truly high quality, it made for an experience which, at that time, had no comparison. Otherwise, I'd have had to choose the lightly chocolate cream cake that I had when I was twelve or thirteen. This was back when the Dutch Bakery in town was run by, whom I can only assume was, an absolute genius! Never have I thought a store bought cake was worth even a penny, never, until that one slice of heaven. Sugar was an aid to the flavours, a unique quality in every store bought cake I have ever had considering every other cake relies 100% on sugar to be the primary "flavour" (these hack bakers are foul heathens who don't deserve their lack of leprosy). Light cocoa undertones, beautifully soft cream icing / filling which had no oily glycerine taint to coat your mouth with, a touch of vanilla and the moistest cake I've ever had made for the best chocolate cake moment of my life. Since then I haven't cared at all about any other chocolate cakes; it's a chore to eat a slice and can anyone blame me? One doesn't dance with an angel and feel satisfied going home with an average girl. I hope, when I die, that my life flashes before my eyes and lingers reaaaal long on that cake.
My favorite chocolate is:
Anything from Hilltops Chocolate circa 2000-2006
