Giving Back
It's not enough to hand off to NGOs (non-governmental organizations) the responsibility to redress issues of ethical trade. The purpose of this group is to discuss ways to improve the quality of life of farm families and farm communities worldwide.

Roxanne Browning replied to Clay Gordon's discussion That One Bar of Chocolate"For me it would have to be Amedei's Cru Venezuela. I visited Amedei in Sept, sampled almost all of them, but the Cru is a classic bar, for fun, I also liked there white chocolate with pistachio."

- Just returned from Ecuador - June 2011. Visiting the kallari Co-op and living with the Kichwa natives that make the chocolate. Tasting the cacao pulp for the first time is now my most memorable chocolate experience. Cannot be described, a sweet creamy taste like nothing else.
My mission though Exotic Chocolate Tasting is to bring awareness of the people that created the chocolate, the chocolate health benefits, and to demonstrate how to mindfully savor every morsel for your well being in a deep tasting experience.
Not just any chocolate… chocolate that was made by farmers that are fairly compensated and preserve the delicate ecosystem of their rain forests. By Ethical Chocolatiers that partner with the farmers then transform cocoa beans with the purest of ingredients with integrity and love to capture chocolates true essence.

Bean to Bar event in NYC's Soho

My first chocolate meet up was met with many chocolate enthusiasts in a Soho art gallery, a fitting place for the fine variety of chocolates and large photo’s that covered the walls. After testing many of the samples, we gathered for a presentation by Dr. Kristy Leissie, whose book Chocolate Planet is a memoir of traveling around the world studying the history and present of the cocoa trade routes. - I hope you did not miss the chocolates we sampled, not yet released dark with nibs & a hint of salt, a milk that tasted like caramel. Clay had some from Granada that was rich and a 75% Kallari. All were just exciting. Had dinner nearby after and the chocolate dessert did not compare to the bars.
