- Most memorable chocolate experience:
- Being presented (as a kid) on special occasions a box of Mackintosh's bonbon + chocolates and wanting to try each one of the bonbons that were presented to me in this metal tins of hundreds of candies (at least it seems hundreds to me as a kid). Each bonbon is individually warped in a colorful paper...The favorites are the purple wrapped hazelnut caramel and the green metal wrapped hazelnut chocolate...
Mackintosh (or Quality Street) is the name of an assortment of candies together in a metal box, made in England now manufactured by Nestlé...Somehow now they seem not such a big deal (after trying them 20 + years later) or maybe my palate changed. A few months ago I was asked what was my favorite candy growing up and the image of the box and candies came to mind (this is after 25+ years of not seeing them), I instantly remembered everything about them, (including figuring out how to unlock grand ma's secret drawer and taking (or borrowing) my favorite ones thinking a few would go unnoticed (but not really).
